Overtime, the refineries could not meet up with fuel requirement of the country due to the lack lustre performance of the refineries which led to government depots not being supplied adequately coupled with pipeline vandalism which also resulted in serious ques and scarcity of fuels across the country.

In 1998, the government felt it was time to deregulate and liberalize the down stream sector.

Techno Oil took the challenge to complement government efforts by constructing 30,000MT Fuel storage depot (Tank farm) on a 200 meters Jetty Facility in Kirikiri, a 10,000MT ultra modern lubricant blending plant, and a 500MT automated liquefied Petroleum gas bottling plant as well as state-of-the-art analytical laboratory with modern equipment for quality assurance test for all our petroleum products.

Techno oil’s journey in the oil industry began in 1997 with the marketing of “Esso” blended and branded lubricants. Over the years, the company has established itself as a major indigenous oil marketing company through the efficient deployment of its human and material resources and the resultant growth in market share and profitability.

The company’s principal activities are the storage, handling, and marketing of refined petroleum products and providing high quality value added services to the industrial sectors of the Nigerian economy such as Marine, Construction, Manufacturing, Aviation, Automotive, Energy and other highly specialized sectors.

We market all range of lubricant and chemicals in addition to the supply of white products such as diesel (AGO), kerosene (DPK), Petrol (PMS) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

For efficient service delivery at the depot we put in place four Johnson product pumps of 100m3  /hr, 30 m head, 11KW (15HP). A loading bay/gantry is in place which has installed four 100m3/hr, liquid control loading meters, loading arms, pumps and remote control to aid in the loading of trucks. We also have four loading Island in place by the loading bay/gantry.

To ensure utmost safety, operational efficiency, and security the following facilities were installed: Process Automation and Control System, Automatic Tank Gauging, Firefighting Facilities, Closed Circuit Television System, Perimeter Intrusion Detection System, Hydrant Pipeline Network. We have implemented highly efficient petroleum products fuel storage (Tank farm). To maintain the highest international standards, Techno Oil strictly adheres to the oil companies' guideline issued by the Joint Inspection Group (JIG) and the Directorate of Petroleum Resources (DPR), “Guideline for Fuel Quality Control and Operating Procedures”.

He noted that the company’s effort in this regard has gone a long way to alleviate the inconveniences associated with perennial or artificial fuel scarcity.

Quality assurance is the key to all our services and facilities. The company's analytical laboratories incorporate state of the art instrument to provide a fundamental knowledge of the chemical and physical properties of petroleum products.

All petroleum products undergo rigorous testing to make sure they meet specifications and perform satisfactorily before they reach the market place. Product properties are compared with specification laid down by Techno oil and outside bodies such as American Petroleum Institute (API), British standards institute (BSI) and American society for testing and materials (ASTM) and various OEM’s

The health, safety and environment (HSE) policies are in accordance with international standard. This has been the guiding principle in the execution of various projects by the company. The operation of the company is guided by safety awareness programme and fire drill within the depot and in all the offices. The company grants permit for the lifting of fuel only to the tankers with safety equipments and well maintained engine. Employees are actively involved in safety committees and work with management to monitor performance, investigate incidents and promote high level of safety awareness. Emergency response teams hold regular exercises at work.
